Narrative

Jose Roberto Monterroso Pineda is the owner of Finca El Morito, a coffee farm located in Aldea Morales, Mataquescuintla, Jalapa, Guatemala. The farm spans 672 hectares, divided into 188.4 hectares of coffee cultivation, 413 hectares of forest conservation, 60.6 hectares of paddocks, and 10 hectares of infrastructure.

Finca El Morito grows a variety of coffee plants, including Pache, Geisha, Bourbon, and Ana Café 14, at elevations ranging from 1,450 to 2,350 meters above sea level. The coffee is harvested annually from December to April.

The farm benefits from clay-loam soils, an altitude-driven climate with temperatures ranging from 7°C to 30°C, and natural mountain shade provided by tree species such as cedar, pine, cypress, and oak. With an average planting density of 1,750 to 3,500 plants per block and rainfall between 1,200mm and 2,000mm annually, the farm is designed to optimise coffee production while maintaining forest conservation efforts.

This Coffee Plants Trees

When you buy this product, mangrove trees are planted on your behalf in either Madagascar, Mozambique, or Kenya. This gives crucial income to local villagers so they can provide for their families.

Mangrove forests are essential coastal ecosystems. They store four times as much carbon as even tropical rainforest, making them an important tool to mitigate climate change.

The trees are planted by Eden Reforestation Projects.

          Great Colombian coffee!

Bought these as green beans to roast at home. Made great coffee in a blend or on their own, with milk or as espresso. Such an easy 5 stars!
