Narrative

Remera Washing Station is situated in the Southern Province of Rwanda and processes the coffee of about 700 local smallholder farmers in the region. Remera Washing Station was established in 2007 and is the largest of multiple washing stations owned by Epiphanie Mukashyaka of Buf Coffee. After founding Buf Coffee in 2000, Epiphanie became the first woman to both own a private coffee company, and establish a coffee washing station in Rwanda. The post harvest processing for this lot involved fermenting the coffee in water for 24 hours, then drying the coffee on raised bes for 10 to 12 days, or until the ideal moisture level for the coffee is achieved
