This coffee was produced by Oliverio Ruiz and Sandra Janeth de Ruiz on their farm, La Esperanza. This farm is located in the municipality of Acevedo, in the Huila department of Colombia. Due to economic encumbrances, the farm has limited infrastructure and workers. As such, Oliverio tends to the harvesting by himself along with his neighbour, Ancizar Lanza. Oliverio and Sandra are currently working with a green coffee exporter called Far More. Together, they have developed post harvest processes that ferment coffee cherries with their fruit and pulp intact, mitigating the need for extra equipment, such as a de-pulper. The post harvest processing for this coffee includes fermentation of whole cherries for a minimum of 72 hours.

When you buy this product, mangrove trees are planted on your behalf in either Madagascar, Mozambique, or Kenya. This gives crucial income to local villagers so they can provide for their families.

Mangrove forests are essential coastal ecosystems. They store four times as much carbon as even tropical rainforest, making them an important tool to mitigate climate change.

The trees are planted by Eden Reforestation Projects.
