Narrative

Murambi Coop comprises a collection of smallholder farmers in the Muramvya region of Burundi. These farmers, who typically own less than one hectare of land, carefully cultivate and harvest coffee cherries on their plots begore delivering them to the Murambi Washing Station for processing. At the washing station, the coffee cherries are sorted and pulped before undergoing fermentation methods lasting between 18 and 24 hours. The resultant coffee is then dried on raised beds, which are covered during evenings to prevent precipitation from damaging the beans.
