Gersi Village

Strawberry / Jasmine / Chocolate

Gersi is the name of the closest village to the dry mill at which this lot of coffee was processed. It lies in Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone, in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region (SNNPR). The mill is managed by Alem Mola, who processes the coffee of around 357 smallholder farmers. Farms in this area are no larger than 2.5 hectares, and coffee here is grown under the shade of native forests. Alem upholds strict standards at the dry mill, processing only the ripest cherries. Cherries are delivered to the dry mill by smallholders for sorting and drying. Once dried to the desired level, the lot is transported to another location for milling, grading, sorting, and bagging, before it is delivered to Addis Ababa, the country’s capital city, for export.
