Best Coffee For Espresso Brewing

Deciding on which coffee to use for your brewing setup at home can be difficult at the best of times, and when there are endless choices out there, it can feel a bit overwhelming. Between country of origin, processing style, coffee variety, and other variables, things can get confusing pretty quickly.

And what about when it comes to brewing devices? As we've spoken about before, there are a million different ways to brew a cup of coffee, and if you've followed us for a while, you know we like to keep things simple. When it comes to brewing espresso, the sentiment remains the same.

When choosing a coffee for espresso, it's best to keep in mind how you're drinking your coffee — are you drinking it with milk? Or are you leaving the milk out and drinking it as-is?

For folks who enjoy drinking espresso-based coffees with milk, like cappuccinos, lattes, and flat whites, we'd recommend starting with Timely Two. This coffee represents a flavor profile that is "sweet and rich". When it comes to Timely Twothe flavor will stay pretty much the same year-round, regardless of country of origin, variety, and processing style. This coffee has a lovely familiarity to it, and reminds us of Cherry Ripe.

For people who enjoy drinking their espresso brews without milk, like double espressos, Americanos, and long blacks, we'd recommend starting with Timely One. This coffee represents a flavor profile that is "clean and balanced" and as above, it remains the same year-round. It's quite often chocolatey with a fruity acidity, and it's got a delicious stonefriuit finish.

And for folks that are into something a little bit more challenging when brewing espresso, we'd recommend trying out our blends range. All blends contain both Timely One and Timely Two in different quantities, and each blend offers a unique roast profile:

  • Flux Blend is roasted to be heavy and creamy, with a prominent body.
  • Round Robin is roasted to be rich and sweet, with a lingering body
  • Mothership Blend is roasted to be balanced and approachable, with a clean finish.
  • Lumen Blend is roasted to be light and bright, with a sparkling acidity.

Love Timely xx
