At Timely Coffees, we believe in doing business a little differently. From the beginning, we’ve made decisions that prioritise responsibility, generosity, and transparency, even when it means doing things the hard way.
One of the ways we’ve put this into practice is by planting a tree for every bag of coffee sold through our online store. For the past few years, we’ve done this through Verdn, a sustainability partner that helped us link every retail order to real tree-planting efforts in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects.
Earlier this year, Verdn sadly announced it would be closing its doors. It’s always tough to see a values-led business wind down, especially one that played such a big role in shaping our own sustainability journey. We’re incredibly grateful for the work they did and the impact they helped us achieve along the way.
Now, we’re continuing our tree-planting commitment through a new partnership with Greenspark, and we’re excited to keep building on what we started.
Where We're Planting: Mteza Creek, Kenya
Our trees are currently being planted as part of the EarthLungs Mangrove Restoration Project in Mteza Creek, Kenya, a large-scale project focused on rebuilding mangrove ecosystems along the coast.
Mangroves play a critical role in climate action. They absorb large amounts of carbon, prevent coastal erosion, and support biodiversity. But many of these ecosystems have been lost due to deforestation and development.
This project not only restores damaged environments but also creates fair employment opportunities for local communities. For every 10,000 trees planted, around 20 days of paid work are created. That means your coffee supports both environmental and economic resilience in regions that need it most.
The work is hands-on and community-led, with planting done through a mix of nursery-grown seedlings and direct planting in the wild. It’s long-term work that focuses on meaningful, lasting outcomes.
