Every year thousands of schools, community organisations, universities and workplaces organise events and celebrate the colour purple across Australia. Through these actions, directly and indirectly, the message reaches hundreds of thousands of young people, meaning that young LGBTQ+ people will benefit from seeing the respect, recognition, love and inclusion that surrounds them.
This year, Wear It Purple day falls on the 27th of August. The theme focuses on engaging in the conversation about sexual orientation and gender identity. It aims to remind people that the issues we reflect on Wear it Purple Day should not only be considered on that particular day, but every day.
To celebrate, we at Timely will be wearing purple and making a donation. Perhaps we might drink some Timely Purple-coloured coffee too.
