What if you could wake up in the morning, press one button, and have ethical, transparent, delicious, sustainable coffee pouring right into your favourite mug?
Coffee capsules are not a new invention. They've been around is 1976, when an employee of Nestle first patented them. But there has always been a substantial environmental cost when using traditional coffee pods. Firstly, the capsules themselves are largely non-recyclable (except in exceptional circumstances where you collect your pods and post them back to the factory). And the coffee inside those pods has always lacked transparency, which makes it hard to know if the producers are paid a fair amount for coffee that ends up in those pods. But, thanks to some recent innovations, we're ready to change all that.
Firstly, we've used a coffee we can trace back to origin, grown by Jose Ordonez in Colombia (who also produces the coffee for our current Timely One). Not only does this mean we are familiar with this coffee, but this traceability guarantees that we know Jose receives roughly double the market price for his coffee. We then roast Jose's coffee and send it to our packaging partners, who grind the coffee to its optimum size for extracting on a standard capsule machine. Finally, the coffee is packed and sealed in pods that are fully compostable in industrial facilities*.
Sometimes coffee can be complicated. Even as coffee professionals, we still feel this way sometimes. The one thing we've always loved about coffee pods is their unmatched convenience. No need to worry about any of the details - we've taken care of that for you. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible to drink genuinely excellent and meaningful coffees. With Timely Capsules, it doesn't get much easier.
