Timely's Roasting Studio in Bayswater is officially up and running. Folks are using the space to source, taste and roast coffee. Now we're looking to introduce new community initiatives and workshops, which everyone is welcome to, no matter where you are in your coffee-development journey. Below are just some of the things you can expect from the space. Have a read and, if you're interested, let us know what you'd like us to do first.

Cuppings

When deciding on what coffee we should get next, we try each batch to gauge the quality, using a technique called cupping. At these sessions, our intention is you'll get to taste new seasonal coffees from different growers, cooperatives, micro-climates, cultures, and communities around the world. You'll get a window into the sourcing process, learn more about the art of tasting, and explore your palate to discern what you like and don't like.

Brewing training

Today, there are many ways to brew coffee, from espresso machines, drip methods, and stovetops to Aeropress and French press, to name a few. Whether you want to fine-tune your barista skills or better coffee at home, the training is about helping you take your knowledge and skills to the next level so that you can achieve your coffee-making goals.

Roasting workshops

As the name suggests, these workshops are about empowering you to roast your own coffee—for your cafe, side-hustle, or home. We'll guide you through the steps, from choosing the right green bean to learning the ins and outs of a roaster. You'll be on your way to roasting cafe-grade coffee in no time.

What one first?

These workshops are still in development, and they will evolve with the community (that's you). So we can better tailor the initiatives to you, we'd love to hear what one you'd like us to implement first and why.

With love,
