If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll know we’re always looking for ways to reduce waste in the roastery while delivering as much value as possible to our customers, without ever compromising our core principles. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Lucky Dip: the same delicious, thoughtfully sourced coffee you know us for, now with a little twist.
What is Lucky Dip?
Lucky Dip is our way of giving coffee that’s just past its peak freshness a second chance, without letting any beans go to waste. After roasting, we often have small leftover amounts of certain coffees that don’t quite fit our regular wholesale or retail orders. While these batches may be slightly beyond our “peak freshness” window, they are still carefully roasted, full of flavour, and far too good to throw away.
Lucky Dip gives these coffees a new life and a little mystery for your cup. Every bag is clearly labelled: one side has a Lucky Dip sticker, and the other shows the coffee label with origin, process, roast date, and a QR code for more details. This way, you know exactly what you’re drinking while enjoying the surprise.
Why we made Lucky Dip
We’ve been quietly working on Lucky Dip for a while, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with you. Great coffee shouldn’t end up in the bin, even if it’s just past its "ideal" freshness window. We’ve explored this idea before (see: Is Fresh Always Best? Rethinking Coffee Freshness) and Lucky Dip is the perfect way to put our theory into practice. It helps us use every last bean responsibly, while giving our customers a fun and affordable way to try something new and add variety to their weekly brews.
What's in a bag of Lucky Dip?
When you order a Lucky Dip bag, you won’t know exactly which coffee you’re getting until it arrives at your doorstep, but every bag is still carefully roasted and delicious. It could be a sold-out single origin with a few kilos left, a blend component roasted late in the week, or a batch just beyond our peak freshness window that still brews beautifully at home. Every bag depends on our roasting schedule, so no two Lucky Dip bags are ever quite the same.
