For many people working in coffee, the idea of roasting their own beans is exciting, but getting started can feel out of reach. At Timely, we offer roastery hire as a way to make that step a little more accessible.
Our roastery hire services give individuals and businesses the chance to roast coffee using professional equipment, with the guidance and support of our team. It's a way to explore coffee roasting without needing to invest in your own machinery or space.
Roastery hire is great for people who:
- Are building their own coffee brand
- Want to create a custom blend for their business
- Are looking for a more affordable way to scale
- Value having more control over their coffee, from seed to cup
We offer full training on all equipment, so even if you’ve never roasted before, you’ll have the same access and independence as any other roaster
Roastery hire also includes:
- Access to all quality control equipment
- Green coffee and finished goods storage (tiered based on volume)
- Shared packing and packing areas and fulfilment support
- Shared desk space to work from
You can roast your own coffee or, if needed, we can roast it for you. We also offer flexible help with fulfilment; your orders can be packed and shipped directly from our warehouse with no mention of Timely!
Here’s an example of how it works in practice:
Alex runs a local café called Cool Beans Coffee and wanted more control over the coffee she serves. So she started roasting her own coffee using our roastery hire service. After choosing a green coffee supplier, she has her beans delivered straight to our roastery in Bayswater. When she’s ready, Alex simply books a roasting session via email, arrives to a pre-heated roaster, and gets started. When she’s finished, we take care of the clean-up, storage, and anything else she needs.
During her first few roasting sessions, Alex worked alongside our roasting team and used our learning resources to get comfortable with the equipment. Now, she roasts her coffee every week, keeps costs down, and has complete control over what she serves at Cool Beans Coffee. Over the next 6 months, she’s planning to train the head barista as Cool Beans Coffee as the new coffee roaster, so she can focus on growing her business, and she’s already discussed the logistics with Timely to ensure a smooth transition.
